  • The article discusses reconceiving language learning within a more consistent educational framework which teaches language and culture in tandem. Language study in postsecondary education is talked about. The article details and promotes the use of the national project of the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Language known as "Standards for Foreign Language Learning in the 21st Century." The author explains that the standards place individual communication within the media, pragmatic, and sociocultural norms of a culture.
