  • The article presents news briefs regarding the scholarly study of languages as of the Winter 2010. Multiple language society meetings and conferences are announced, including those of the National Council of Less Commonly Taught Languages, the American Educational Research Association, and the British Association for Applied Linguistics. Calls for submissions to journals such as "Applied Linguistics Review" are given. Comments on Chinese language teacher preparation in the U.S. are also given.
