    Contemporary fiction has found in the detective story a new, specific manner to think its relationship to the imagination and verisimilitude. After Borges, Robbe-Grillet, Butor and Perec, writers like Roubaud, Vila-Matas, Echenoz, Modiano, Paul Auster and many more have renewed the forms and issues of the genre. The trivialization of the universe of the detective novel and the rarefaction of adventure then work as catalysts for new imaginaries, on the brink of the strange, the absurd and the fantasy. At the same time, the artificial character of the detective novel is relentlessly exhibited up to fabricate a genuine textualization of the inquiry which interrogates the detectives’ hermeneutics as well as the readers’.

    La fiction contemporaine a trouvé dans le roman policier une manière singulière de repenser son rapport à l’imagination et à la vraisemblance. Après Borges, Robbe-Grillet, Butor et Perec, des écrivains comme Roubaud, Vila-Matas, Echenoz, Modiano, Paul Auster et bien d’autres encore ont renouvelé les formes et les enjeux de ce genre. La banalisation de l’univers du polar et la raréfaction de l’aventure y fonctionnent comme les catalyseurs de nouveaux imaginaires, à la lisière de l’étrange, de l’absurde et de la fantaisie. Dans le même temps, c’est l’artificialité du roman policier qui est sans cesse exhibée jusqu’à opérer une véritable textualisation de l’enquête qui interroge tant l’herméneutique des détectives que celle du lecteur.
