Resumen de El fons del Museu del Calçat i de la Pell. Bases teòriques i estudi preliminar

  El Museu del Calçat i de la Pell compta amb un fons singular, entenent-se com l’única institució museística dedicada, en la seva totalitat, al patrimoni i memòria industrial de les Illes Balears. A través de diferents béns mobles es representa part de la memòria històrica, social i cultural del propi municipi.

  Aquest fons, però, manca d’estudis exhaustius que permetin catalogar-lo i contextualitzar-lo, la qual cosa impossibilita fer-ne una correcta difusió a tots els nivells.

  Els fons custodiats per les institucions museístiques es posicionen com l’element vertebrador a partir del qual s’interrelacionen les altres àrees del museu, esdevenint el punt comú entre totes aquestes; així, el coneixement de la pròpia col·lecció és el motor de la institució. En aquest sentit, l’article proposa, per una part, un estat de la qüestió sobre la documentació del patrimoni industrial, establint unes bases teòriques;

  i per l'altra, pretén ajudar a la documentació de la col·lecció mitjançant un estudi preliminar del seu fons.

  The Footwear and Leather Museum has a unique collection. It is understood as the only institution which is entirely dedicated to the industrial heritage of the Balearic Islands. Thus, the collection represents part of the memory and sociocultural history of Mallorca. However, it lacks specific studies which would allow to catalogue and contextualize it. This is the reason behind the impossibility of conducting a proper dissemination at all levels.

  The collections are the most important resource of the museums since they become the point where all the areas and departments converge. Indeed, the knowledge of the own collection is the engine of the institution. In this sense, the paper suggests, on the one hand, a status of the issue about the documentation of industrial heritage, establishing theoretical bases; and, on the other hand, it expects to increase the knowledge of the collection through a preliminary study of it.
