John Cage, inventor por necesidad

    El 5 de septiembre de 2012 John Cage habría cumplido un siglo. La iconoclastia de este compositor norteamericano ha influido sobre generaciones de músicos, ha redefinido el concepto mismo de qué es música. El presente artículo se centra en estudiar un tipo de creatividad surgido de la necesidad, que condujo a la invención del piano preparado (“debe sonar africano”), a la obra Cheap Imitation (“debe tener la misma estructura rítmica que determinada otra obra”) y a la técnica compositiva de los Time Brackets (“la obra debe poder ser compuesta velozmente”). A través de estas tres invenciones se puede acceder con sencillez al pragmático universo cageano. Un aspecto de la creatividad eficiente basada en la necesidad consiste en poner únicamente los marcos mentales que se necesitan realmente, sin agregar barreras tácitas.

    On September 5th, 2012, John Cage would have turned one century. The iconoclasm of this US-American composer has influenced generations of musicians, has redefined the concept itself of what is music. This paper centers itself on researching a type of creativity came up necessity that has led to the invention of the prepared piano ("it must sound African"), to the piece Cheap Imitation ("it must have the same rhythmical structure as a certain other piece") and to the compositional device of the Time Brackets ("the piece must be rapidly composed"). Through these three inventions one can easily get an insight on Cage's pragmatic universe. One aspect of efficient creativity based upon necessity consists on putting only the mental frames that are really needed, without adding extra tacit barriers.
