  El trabajo expone las tendencias más recientes en materia de administración del territorio y analiza sus repercusiones en el Catastro y, sobre todo, en el Registro de la propiedad. Con relación a este último, se examina si es necesario abordar una estrategia de reingenierización de la institución registral, de manera que, aprovechando las posibilidades que le brinda la legislación, por un lado, y las nuevas tecnologías de la información y comunicación, por otro, se reinvente para hacer frente a los desafíos que las instituciones que se ocupan de la administración territorial están llamadas a cubrir.

  This paper explains the recent trends on land administration, analysing its effects over the Cadastre and especially with regard to the Land Registry. Taking advantage of the possibilities given both by legislation and new information and communication technologies, we also examine the need of reengineering the Land Registry to reinvent it so that it could meet the challenges that the institutions dealing with land administration should cover.
