    Teniendo en cuenta las corrientes críticas actuales sobre la categoría de autor, en este artículo analizamos los distintos niveles de representación autorial en los paratextos y textos de Luis Hurtado de Toledo (1523-1590). Inicialmente estudiamos la representación del “autor-histórico,” conectándola con la representación del “autor-personaje.” A continuación indagamos sobre la imagen del autor como “ladrón” o “hurtador” de textos ajenos, concluyendo que, en términos de la búsqueda de una “función-autor,” solamente es posible hablar en la obra de Luis Hurtado de una “falsa función-autor,” que cumple el objetivo de dar coherencia y unidad a sus trabajos

    In this article we are studying the image that Luis Hurtado de Toledo (1523-1590) constructs of himself as an “author” in texts and paratexts, taking into account the recent critical trend on the idea of authorship. Firstly, we restore the representations of the biographical author, contrasting them with the representation of the author as a character. Secondly, we analyze the representation of the author as a thief, concluding that it is only possible to speak, in terms of the idea of author function, of a false “author-function” in Hurtado de Toledo’s works, constructed in their texts and paratexts with the intention of giving some coherence to his work.
