  • Resumen
    • This article considers the efficacy of an inquiry approach to learning in the context of science education. The educational ideology that supports the inquiry approach is based on a belief that students will be able to develop the self-directive skills necessary to continue independent learning. It is stated that prior research has suggested that the use of this method also helps to develop transferable science skills and enhance general problem solving capabilities. The authors emphasize the importance of controlled teacher direction and guidance if the inquiry method is to be successful.
