  • The author responds to the article "Commentary on Trevor Barnes' 2011 Roepke Lecture in Economic Geography" by Allen Scott, which critiqued his own article "Noes from the Underground: Why the History of Economic Geography Matters: The Case of Central Place Theory". He addresses Scott's concerns about such topics as the relationship between war and central place theory and the role of theory in economic geography. Particular focus is given to performance theory.
