    Tourism is today a complex and highly relevant sector in the world economy scenario.

    Locally, in order not to create social and environmental problem, ir must be very planned. Realizing the beginning of a tourist flow in the Pampulha Ecological Park, the Botanic Zoo Foundation of Belo Horizonte, was concerned to attend and offer services of interest to this public. The present study meets the need to know the socioeconomic profile of the Park 's public. The present study meets the need to know the socioeconomic profile of the Park 's public. Other discussions also ended up being part of the research, such as the way in which the residents of Belo Horizonte have appropriated the Park and the social function that this space has been fulfilling. The study was divided into stages that include bibliographical and documentary research, elaboration and application of questionnaire, analysis of results and final discussion. It was found, in the end, that the amount of tourists in the Park is still incipient, and that the majority of the visitors come from Belo Horizonte and metropolitan region. It was also observed that the degree of satisfaction of the public with respect to this equipment is high, despite several suggestions for improvement of infrastructure and service.

    Through this study it was possible to draw the profile of the public that attends the PEP, to verify its satisfaction and to capture the suggestions. Based on the collected data, it is believed possible to plan strategies to improve space and to carry out new studies that use more detailed statistical analysis to better use the data collected in this research

    O turismo configura-se hoje como um setor complexo e de muita relevância no cenário da economia mundial. Localmente, para que não gere problemas sociais e ambientais, ele deve ser bem planejado. Ao perceber o início de um fluxo turístico no Parque Ecológico da Pampulha - PEP, a Fundação Zoo Botânica de Belo Horizonte, preocupou-se em atender e oferecer serviços de interesse a este público. O presente estudo vai ao encontro à necessidade de conhecer o perfil socioeconômico do público do Parque. Outras discussões acabaram também por compor a pesquisa, como por exemplo, a forma com que os moradores de Belo Horizonte vêm se apropriando do Parque e qual a função social que esse espaço vem cumprindo. O estudo foi dividido em etapas onde constam pesquisa bibliográfica e documental, elaboração e aplicação de questionário, análise dos resultados e discussão final. Constatou-se, ao final, que a quantidade de turistas no Parque ainda é incipiente, e que a maior parte dos visitantes advêm de Belo Horizonte e Região Metropolitana. Observou-se ainda que o grau de satisfação do público com relação a este equipamento é alta, apesar das diversas sugestões para melhoria da infraestrutura e do atendimento. Através deste estudo foi possível traçar o perfil do público que frequenta o PEP, constatar sua satisfação e captar as sugestões. A partir dos dados coletados acredita-se ser possível um planejamento de estratégias para melhoria do espaço e ainda a realização de novos estudos que utilizem análises estatísticas mais aprofundadas para melhor aproveitamento dos dados coletados nessa pesquisa.
