El lejano estrato de la sinrazón: expresiones de locura en el puerto y ciudad de mazatlán finales del siglo xix

    El presente trabajo aborda aspectos de la vida porteña, respecto a los inconvenientes y constantes desafíos sobre las diversas epidemias y enfermedades a las que se enfrentaron los habitantes, así así como el papel desempeñado por las instituciones hospitalarias. Aspectos tomados en cuenta para vislumbrar la otra cara de la realidad, en oposición a la modernidad y el progreso aludido por la elite gobernante durante los años porfiristas, quienes trataron de disfrazar las precariedades ante la insolvencia de la atención a la salud.

    Aunado a ello, detiene su atención principalmente a las manifestaciones de locura de hombres y mujeres dementes al interior de la ciudad y puerto de Mazatlán en los últimos años del siglo XIX, específicamente entre 1877 hasta 1900.

    La presencia de estos marcó una pauta importante entre la ciudad en aras del progreso y la efímera realidad a la que se enfrentaron en relación a la salud y el orden que se pretendió tener. Y además permite observar la perspectiva que se tenía de ellos, así como la construcción y la asociación de las causas sobre la locura. Con la participación de estos individuos inadaptados, trasgresores del orden, de la desviación social y la pobreza, que trataron de ser evadidos, limitándolos a la integración de la convivencia social. Bajo la instauración de formas disciplinarias, regidas por normas, costumbres y rutinas que guiaron su conducta.

    La segregación por el modo de comportamiento, determinaron la construcción de estereotipos por parte de la sociedad, la familia, los médicos y autoridades públicas.

    This work deals with aspects of life port, with respect to the inconveniences and constant challenges on the different epidemics and diseases that the inhabitants faced, as well as the role played by the hospital institutions. Aspects taken into account to envision the other side of reality, in opposition to the modernity and progress alluded to by the ruling elite during the Porfirian years, who tried to disguise precariousness in the face of the insolvency of health care.

    In addition to this, he pays attention mainly to the madness manifestations of demented men and women inside the city and port of Mazatlán in the last years of the XIX century, specifically between 1877 and 1900. The presence of these marked an important guideline between the city for the sake of progress and the ephemeral reality that they faced in relation to the health and order that was intended to have. And in addition it allows to observe the perspective that was had of them, as well as the construction and the association of the causes on the madness. With the participation of these maladjusted individuals, transgressors of order, social deviance and poverty, who tried to be evaded, limiting them to the integration of social coexistence. Under the establishment of disciplinary forms, governed by rules, customs and routines that guided his conduct. The segregation by the mode of behavior, determined the construction of stereotypes by society, the family, doctors and public authorities.
