US imposes anti-dumping duties on Chinese refrigerants imports

  • The US will impose anti-dumping duties on China-origin refrigerants imports, with effect from 1 March 2017.

    The US Department of Commerce imposed an anti-dumping duty on a number of refrigerants imported from China, with effect from 1 March 2017.

    After launching an investigation in October 2016, the department of Commerce determined in April that a series of fluorochemical compound commonly known as R-134a from China" is being, or is likely to be, sold in the United States at less than fair value".

    Anti-dumping duties of between 148.79% - 167.02% will be imposed on China-origin R-134a imports to the US effective from 1 March 2017.

    "This is something that we have been lobbying about for some time. It has been several years, now it finally looks like it is going to hold," one US-based consumer told IM.

    A number of Chinese producers affected by the newly-introduced duty are Zhejiang Sanmei Chemical Industry Co. Ltd, Jiangsu Sanmei Chemicals Co. Ltd, Jiangsu Bluestar Green Technology Co., Electrochemical Factory of Zhejiang Juhua Co., Sinochem Environmental Protection Chemicals (Taicang) Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Quzhou Lianzhou Refrigerants Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Zhonglan Refrigeration Technology Co. Ltd, Weitron International Refrigeration Equipment Co. Ltd, Zhejiang Organic Fluor-Chemistry Plant, Zhejiang Juhua Co. Ltd and Zhejiang Quhua Juxin Fluorochemical Industry Co. Ltd.
