Objective: To assess the role of clinical pharmacist in nursing education and to evaluate the knowledge and attitude of practicing nurses on medication administration and medication errors in a tertiary care teaching hospital in Bangalore, India. Method: Total of 100 nurses participated in this study. The designed questionnaires were distributed in all the hospital wards, through two steps. In the first step, the extent of knowledge and attitude of nurses towards medication administration practices and perceived sources of errors before the educational program were collected using the questionnaire. One month after distribution of questionnaire, the study participants were educated with the help of information leaflets prepared by the researcher. Two months after the educational program, the study participants were once again administered the questionnaire. Results: The association for all the statements in questionnaire (except for one statement) showed significance at P <0.001 using McNemar Chi-square test. The impact of educational motivation on improvement in the scores from the pre to post test was highly significant (P 0.001) using student paired 〈t〉 test. Conclusion: It can be concluded that educational intervention by clinical pharmacist as a part of health care team can improve the knowledge of other health care team members (nurses) regarding proper administration of drugs and medication errors
