Resumen de Patrones de melocotonero: situación actual, innovación, comportamiento agronómico y perspectivas de futuro

  En el presente artículo se expone la problemática planteada en el uso de patrones de melocotonero en España, caracterizada por especificidades dentro de cada región y cuál es la situación actual de la mejora genética y de la innovación en nuevos portainjertos. Se describe el origen y características de nuevos portainjertos y se exponen los resultados obtenidos por el IRTA en Cataluña (Lleida y Girona) en dos ensayos, uno iniciado en 1996 con la variedad ‘Elegant lady®’ y otro en curso con la variedad ‘Big Top®’. Diferentes selecciones de ciruelos como el Adesoto®101 o PADAC–150, así como los híbridos interespecíficos Isthara®, Rootpac®40, Rootpac®20, IRTA–1, Poluce y Controller–9, han aportado una buena eficiencia productiva, menor vigor, anticipo de cosecha y mejor calibre del fruto con respecto al patrón de referencia INRA®GF–677. Garnem® y Cadaman se sitúan en una posición intermedia entre ambos grupos. Ello abre posibilidades interesantes de cara a plantaciones más intensivas, con formas planas, mejor adaptadas a la mecanización y más eficientes en el uso de la mano de obra.

  We summarize in this article the existing problems in the use of peach rootstocks in Spain, characterized by specificities within each region. In addition, the current situation concerning genetic breeding advances and selection of new rootstocks is analysed. The origin and characteristics of some new rootstocks, as well as the results obtained in two trials carried out by IRTA in Catalonia (Lleida and Girona), the first started in 1996 with ‘Elegant Lady®’ peach and the second in progress with ‘Big Top®’ nectarine, are described. Different rootstocks as plum selections, as Adesoto®101 or PADAC–150, as well as the interspecific hybrids Isthara®, Rootpac®40, Rootpac®20, IRTA–1, Poluce and Controller–9, have provided a good yield efficiency, less vigour, advance of harvest date and better fruit size regarding to reference rootstock INRA®GF–677. Garnem® and Cadaman are located in an intermediate position, between both groups. These results can bring interesting possibilities in a closer future in order to build up more intensive orchards, better adapted to mechanization and more efficient in the use of labour.
