Resumen de T-Dem Versus Economic Meta-policy: The Means and the Ends
T-Dem is not fully convincing, but it is a good start. Writing it has forced us to think in terms of the solution rather than in terms of the problem. But, in order to come up with the right answer, a good diagnosis needs to be made. In this Overview, I argue that the drafters of T-Dem have formulated an accurate diagnosis: economic governance is run by an opaque jumble of administrations, but fails to see that it is the result of the transformation of the Economic and Monetary Union into a meta-policy, reducing national political space for the benefit of transnational technocratic institutions. As this meta-policy is transnational by nature, a transnational assembly is a relevant solution. But the power vested in it are insufficient. Without any real political powers, the Parliamentary Assembly cannot reach the core of this meta-policy.
