  En los últimos años la investigación digital ha sido presentada como un campo prometedor en historia. Este ensayo examina algunas cuestiones sobre el significado de esta innovación metodológica. Empieza señalando la importancia de las nuevas tecnologías, centrándose sobre todo en la escritura. Indica que, hacia finales del siglo xix, la llegada de nuevas tecnologías quebró la hegemonía del mundo impreso. La segunda parte es una exploración de este enfoque metodológico. Por último, define la historia digital y explora los rasgos y desafíos de hacer historia en la era digital, repasando algunos proyectos significativos.

  In recent years, digital research has been promoted as a promising field in history. This essay explores what this methodological innovation means. It begins with the significance of new technologies, focusing mainly on writing. It argues that toward the end of the nineteenth century, the arrival of new technologies shattered the hegemony of the printed word. The second part explores this methodological approach. Finally, this article proposes a definition of digital history and discusses the characteristics and challenges of practicing history in the digital age by looking at some exemplary projects.
