Herrera de Alcántara y Cedillo son dos localidades de la provincia de Cáceres donde se habla tradicionalmente portugués. Los estudios de dialectología existentes, como la monografía de Maria da Conceição Vilhena, no habían identificado de forma completa la historia de estos lugares. En este trabajo ofrecemos nuevos datos históricos que sirven para comprender mejor de qué manera la lengua portuguesa surge y se mantiene allí hasta nuestros días
Herrera de Alcántara and Cedillo are two villages of the province of Cáceres where Portuguese is spoken traditionally. The existing dialectology studies, as the monograph of Maria da Conceição Vilhena, have not identified completely the history of these places. In this work we will offer new historical evidences that will lead to a better understanding of how the Portuguese language originates and remains to this day on these villages.
