  • Hamzelou features photographer Tim Flach's animal images depicting species on the brink of extinction. The pied tamarin has every reason to look cross. The animal's native habitat a small patch of rainforest in north-eastern Brazil, is being concreted over as neighboring city Manaus expands. As a result, its population is thought to have halved in the past 18 years. The animal pictured here is safely residing in an enclosure at Jersey Zoo, as part of a breeding program that aims to eventually release the species back into the wild.
