  • The widely used weedkiller glyphosate is available in every garden store. But fears that it can cause cancer have so alarmed politicians in Europe that the European parliament has called for a ban. The final decision rests with European Union member states, although a lack of consensus has delayed the vote on renewing glyphosate's licence. That is now due to take place later this month.
