Relación entre el componente gestual y el componente sintáctico en narraciones orales

    Los gestos son considerados unidades sin orden definido y por ello la observación de sus relaciones con el componente sintáctico ha sido marginada por la lingüística. En este trabajo se observa la relación entre los gestos del habla oral y las estructuras sintácticas. Para ello, analizamos cuatro narraciones recopiladas audiovisualmente e identificamos los límites de las estructuras sintácticas a las cuales acompañaban. Los resultados muestran que el 52% de los gestos acompañan unidades oracionales completas. Esto nos hace sostener que existe una relación muy cercana entre la construcción de estructuras sintácticas y la producción de gestos. Así, los gestos, más que ser producción paralingüística, son una herramienta indispensable para la construcción global del discurso oral.

    Gestures are viewed as units without a distinct order. thus, the observation of their relations with the syntactic component has been ignored in linguistics. this paper shows the relationship between oral discourse gestures and the syntactic structures. Four narratives were audio-visually recorded and analyzed. the boundaries of gestures produced during the narratives were identified and compared with the boundaries of the related syntactic structures. the results shows that 52% are associated with full sentence units. this leads us to argue that there is a close relationship between the construction of syntactic structures and the production of gestures. Consequently, gestures, rather than being a paralinguistic production, are a necessary means for the general construction of oral discourse.
