  • Friedrich Will was the author of the first topographical survey of Coves del Drac.

    Following the steps of the celebrated botanist Willkomm, he visited Mallorca in 1880 as an amateur entomologist and got in touch with the Archduke Ludwig Salvator and his collaborators Francisco Manuel de los Herreros and José Moragues (father of the naturalist Fernando Moragues and landowner of the cave). Once he finished the elaboration of the cave map, Will offered to the Archduke the survey of Coves del Drac for his famous publication Die Balearen. Two letters addressed by Friedrich Will to Ludwig Salvator have been found in the Österreichisches Staatsarchive (Vienna) and are reproduced here.
