Lewis comments on the discovery of a mystery of bacteria found in swabs of the outer hull of the International Space Station by Russian cosmonaut Anton Shkaplerov. She explains that the ISS is not truly free of the atmosphere and, maybe, high-altitude bacteria can be carried aloft, landing on the station and adds that, while they might seem alien, their origin is certainly terrestrial.
