Confrontado el actual modo global de vida y de pensamiento con el fenómeno ubicuo del llamado «terrorismo internacional», centrado en el yihadismo islamista, parece conveniente explorar la genealogía de la tormentosa relación de Occidente con el mundo islámico, a través de la poderosa lente —no exenta de ideología eurocristocéntrica— de la filosofía hegeliana, lo cual quizá permita ir poniendo al descubierto los juicios y prejuicios que, profundamente soterrados, moran entre una y otra cosmovisión, basados en buena medida en diferencias «religiosas» o, más bien, ideológicas, las cuales, disfrazadas de religión, encubren dispositivos eficaces de poder.

Now that the the ubiquitous phenomenon of so-called «international terrorism», based on Islamist jihadism, is opposed to the current global way of life and thought, it seems convenient to explore the genealogy of the controversial relationship of the West with the Islamic world through the powerful perspective —not exempt from Euro-Christian-centric ideology— of Hegelian philosophy. This may allow us to expose the judgments and prejudices that, deeply buried, underlie both worldviews, and are largely based on «religious» or rather ideological differences, which, disguised as religion, hide effective «dispositives» of power.
