  • Resumen
    • ASX-listed Australian Bauxite sold a total of 45,590 tonnes bauxite products since the start of operations at its Tasmanian mine last year, and the company sees strong prospects for the cement-grade bauxite market.

The miner continues to target cement and fertiliser end customers specifically for its bauxite sales, while core metallurgical and refractory end applications carry on underperforming, it said in its quarterly activities report on 27 January.

Bauxite sold to cement end users totalled 42,005 tonnes, while 3,584 tonnes were sold for fertiliser applications.

The company currently has 122,500 tonnes of unsold stocks on hand, either blended or ready for blending, as well as some 33,000 tonnes of additional screened material awaiting grade classification.

The company singled out construction and infrastructure projects in the US as one of the main drivers of demand for cement-grade bauxite in the foreseeable future.

The company is currently testing processing methods to separate bauxite into metallurgical, cement and fertiliser-grade material at contained costs.

Australian Bauxite started operating the Bald Hill mine in Tasmania in April. Pending agreements with customers on additional tonnage, the company could set about developing a second mine.

In addition to the Bald Hill mining complex, the company holds a total 27 bauxite tenements between Queensland, New South Wales and Tasmania.
