    • According to EU data, only 5% of European waste organic material is recycled and used as fertilisers, but could substitute up to 30% of inorganic fertilisers. [...]the difficulty in disposing of sewage has caused a build-up of bio-waste raw material in Europe, according to Langeveld. ICL Fertilizers Europe uses up to 150,000 tpa rock phosphate, mostly sourced from Israel through its parent company's mining operation. Since December 2016, ICL has also utilised this phosphate recovery process in its plants in Germany, but it took the company much longer to convince German authorities to adopt this technology, Langeveld said. According to Langeveld, a number of companies have expressed an interest in licencing these technologies - a model which, if successful, could cement ICL as one of the leading suppliers of recovered phosphorous globally. *Conversions made February 2017
