    El artículo trata sobre el modo como fue enseñada América durante la primera mitad del siglo XX en Colombia. América fortaleció la tesis de la identidad, necesaria para el proyecto de gubernamentalidad que estaba en juego. Sirvió para justificar la existencia de un pueblo, un territorio y una raza que aunque tuviera fronteras nacionales, compartiría el mismo destino con el resto de países del continente. Esta manera de existir atravesó cuatro perspectivas que organizan el presente texto: la del indigenismo, la antropológica, la afroamericana y la del panamericanismo. Pero esta idea de América no duraría todo el siglo XX, acá se dejará insinuado el comienzo del fin de este modo de ser de tal dispositivo.

    The article addresses the way in which America was taught during the first half of the XX century in Colombia. América supported the identity thesis, which was necessary to support the government plan that was at stake. Functioned to justify the existence of a people, a territory and a race, all of which despite having national borders, would share a common destiny with the other countries in the continent. This way of existence will be seen in four perspectives organizing the present text: indigenous, anthropological, Afro-American and Pan-American. However, this idea of America wouldn’t last during the entire XX century, here we hint at the beginning of the end of this mechanism.
