  • A fraud, a liar, and a charlatan: that is the general verdict on Woo Suk Hwang, South Korea's disgraced "king of cloning." But the reactions to Hwang's transgressions, which have focused on the fraud, are themselves deeply unsettling. Aldhous points out that the exploitation of women is a far worse offence than data fabrication, and it's time the scientific community woke up to this.
