Las familias con un hijo crónicamente enfermo no sólo cumplen con las funciones relacionadas con la enfermedad sino con las necesidades adicionales traídas por ella. La familia además de contribuir en la salud física y emocional de sus miembros puede ser víctima potencial de los efectos de la enfermedad, por lo que debe ser ayudada. El cometido en este artículo no es examinar todas las situaciones que puede originar la enfermedad de un hijo, sino reflejar la relación entre familia y enfermedad, aceptando el reto que supone mejorar la calidad de vida de las familias con un miembro enfermo.
The families with chronically ill children do not only comply with the functions related to the illness but with the additional needs brought by her. The family besides contributing in the emotional and physical health of his members can be potential victim of the effects of the illness, for which should be helped. Our assignment in this article is not to examine all the situations that can originate the illness in a child, but to reflect the relation among family and illness, accepting the challenge that supposes to improve the quality of life of the families with an ill member.
