Sincronized counts were conducted of Ardeidae entering roosts in Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza during the winters of 2007 (Census I) and 2008 (Census II). There were large fluctuations between years for the cattle egret Bubulcus ibis in Menorca and Mallorca (with increases of 62.5% and 26.2% respectively) and a tendency towards stability for the other species censused. The roosts chosen were mainly low perches over wetland or dry areas where the birds roosted higher up in pines.
