  • Knight features the new cell printer, "electro-spray", that has for the first time been able to produce droplets as small as a few micrometers in diameter, each containing a handful of living cells. The device, a variant of a conventional ink-jet printer, is developed by Suwan Jayasinghe of University College London along with Peter Eagles Amer Qureshi at King's College London. Further experiments are needed to confirm that the cells suffer no long term harm.
