Se describe la primera cita de malvasia canela Oxyura jamaicensis en las Baleares, producida el 9 de diciembre de 2001 y su eliminacion en el marco de Plan de Recuperación de la malvasia cabeciblanca Oxyura leucocephala en Espana. Se hace un breve resumen de la situación de ambas espècies y de los problemas de conservación creados por la malvasia canela, espècie americana introducida en Europa, a la malvasia cabeciblanca, catalogada en Peligro de Extinción. Finalmente se hacen algunas consideraciones sobre la conservación de la espècie autòctona con especial referència a las actuaciones realizadas y por realizar en s'Albufera de Mallorca.
The first record of the Ruddy Duck Oxyura jamaicensis is described in the Balearic Islands, registered on the 9* of December 2001 and the removal ofthe White-headed Duck Oxyura leucocephala from the Recuperation Plan of Spain. There is a brief summary of the situation of both these species and the problems of conservations created by the Ruddy Duck, an American species introduced in Europe. This American species has endangered the White-headed Duck which is categorized as an Endangered Species. Finally, some observations are made about the conservation of the indigenous species with special reference to the steps taken and those pending in s'Albufera (Mallorca).
