Results of the 2000 winter census of Wildfowl and Shorebirds from 60 localities of the Balearic Isles are summarised. Over 18.093 individuals belonging to 56 species were recorded. A new species has been added to the census list, the Oytercatcher Haematopus ostralegus. In Mallorca it stands out the increase of ardeidae, the wintering numbers of Geese and Cranes in Menorca, the great increase of Flamingos Phoenicopterus ruber in Ibiza and a continuity in numbers of the Black-necked grebe Podiceps nigricollis in Formentera in relation to 1999.
