Resumen de “Psicólogos evangélicos”: religiosidade e atuação profissional em Psicologia no Brasil

My aim in the following paper was to analyze the relations evangelical psychologists make between their spirituality and professional practice and the appropriation of the psychological discourse by churches and ministries. The empirical research is realized in two stages; first 104 psychologists who are also evangelical Christians answered an electronic questionnaire; and then, five of them were selected to be interviewed. The results show that the influence of the evangelical faith varies from a total influence to a so called strict neutrality. Between these polarized positions, there are a variety of ambivalences that, in general, point out to a inseparability between a world view that is influenced by religion and the professional practice. Nevertheless, the professionals always highlight a need to suspend the judgment in order that the psychologist beliefs be not imposed to the patients.

Neste trabalho, analiso as concepções de psicólogos evangélicos acerca da relação entre sua religiosidade e sua atuação profissional e sobre os sentidos da apropriação do discurso psicológico efetuada pelos evangélicos. A investigação empírica teve duas etapas: inicialmente, foi aplicado um questionário eletrônico em 104 psicólogos pertencentes à religião evangélica; então, foram selecionados 5 participantes para a realização de entrevistas. Os resultados apontam em geral para uma multiplicidade de discursos sobre a influência da fé evangélica na atuação profissional. Entre os que relatam a total influência da religiosidade e os que afirmam uma neutralidade estrita, há um espectro com diversas posições ambivalentes que, em geral, apontam uma indissociabilidade entre a visão de mundo influenciada pela religião e a prática profissional, ao mesmo tempo em que assinalam a necessidade ética de suspensão do juízo, a fim de que a religiosidade do terapeuta não se interponha para o cliente.
