Falling prices slow down M&A activity in fertiliser industry

  • In its fourth-quarter results for 2015, fertiliser producer Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (PotashCorp) stated that its average potash sale price was $238/tonne, against $284/tonne in Q4 2014.

    Agrium Inc. also recorded a sharp potash price drop in Q4 2015 to $267/tonne, against more than $450/tonne for the same period the previous year.

    Agrium noted its average phosphate sale price for Q4 was $610/tonne, some $50 dollars down y-o-y, while PotashCorp stated its quarterly price, at $522/tonne, had remained flat on the previous 2014 period.
