On the basis of the reading of texts by Freud and Lacan, among others, the authors inquire into the fascination exerted on Western youth by the call to barbarism and the love of a "One", whose religious attire is nothing but a cynical and false illusion that we thought outdated by now. After Freud and “The Future of an Illusion” and after the downfall of the patriarchate, how can we think the spread of this phenomenon of radicalization and the call to a One true god, in a culture that has progressively vacated that locus of power? What is this alarming phenomenon an effect of in the postmodern era?
