  On one hand, this paper analyses the conditions and the right process through which Ecclesiastical authority seeks to convert a church building to a profane use, and underlines the guidelines drawn by the Congregation of the Clergy. On the other, based on the studies and judicial decisions relative to this issue, the author wonders if it is worthwhile to open hierarchical and administrative procedures in such a case.

  L’article examine, d’une part, les conditions et la manière de procéder correctement lorsque l’autorité ecclésiastique souhaite réduire une église à un usage profane et attire l’attention sur les lignes directrices émises par la Congrégation pour le Clergé. D’autre part, au vu des études et des décisions judiciaires portant sur des conflits concernant cette problématique, l’auteur pose la question de l’utilité d’engager des procédures hiérarchico-administratives.
