Resumen de Revelación y religión en Lévinas

El presente artículo propone un análisis descriptivo de la obra de Lévinas a partir del término “revelación”. El esclarecimiento del término implica comprender las dos fuentes que Lévinas hace dialogar: la Biblia y los filósofos. En este diálogo, Lévinas se sirve de la fenomenología para mostrar cómo la conciencia fenomenológica es interrumpida por el Infinito. En este sentido, ocuparse de esta interrupción supondrá pensar la esencia del ser humano y describir su espiritualidad: la espiritualidad del ser humano se expresa como un quehacer ético. Este artículo pretende mostrar que los alcances de la tesis levinasiana en torno a la revelación permiten poner al día el concepto de religión, es decir, permiten esbozar una filosofía de la religión como mandato ético evitando cualquier confusión con el quehacer teológico.

This article proposes a descriptive analysis of Lévinas´s work based on the term ‘revelation’. The clarification of the term requires understanding the two sources which Lévinas makes converse: the Bible and the philosophers. In this dialogue, Lévinas uses phenomenology to show how the phenomenological consciousness is interrupted by the Infinite. In this sense, dealing with this disruption shall imply both thinking about the essence of human being and describing its spirituality: the spirituality of human being is expressed as an ethical endeavor. The article aims to show that the scope of the Levinasian thesis about revelation allows the concept of religion update, that is, to sketch a new philosophy of religion as an ethical mandate, therefore, avoiding any confusion with theological work.
