  Per circumstàncies no sempre derivades de l'anàlisi científic de les condicions específiques en que es podrien desenvolupar les observacions entorn a l'eclipsi total de Sol del 30 d'agost de 1905, es va reunir a Mallorca el més important planter de cientí­ fics, per investigar, que a qualsevol altre data de la Història de Mallorca. Així es trobaren Norman Lockyer, Andrew Crornmelin, James de Graaf-Hunter, François Alphonse Forel, Raul Gautier, Giorgio Abetti, Giuseppe Lais, Julius Elster i Hans Geitel entre molts d'altres. Els científics contemplaren l'eclipsi de Sol i dugueren a terme les seves investigacions, malgrat les males condicions atmosfèriques, i publicaren els resultats a algunes de les revistes científiques més importants del moment com eren Nature, Physikalische Zeitschrift o Terrestrial Magnetism and Atmospheric Electricity

  In the history of Majorca, the most important cadre of scientists gathered to investigate the same phenomenorn is the one that congregated in the island, for circumstances not always derived from the scientific analysis of the specific conditions that would be found and could affect their investigations, to observe the total soler eclipse of August 30, 1905. Norman Lockyer, Andrew Crommelin, James de Graaf-Hunter, Fran­ çois Alphonse Forel, Raul Gautier, Giorgio Abetti, Giuseppe Lais, Julius Elster i Hans Geitel were some of the scientists that came. Despite the bad weather conditions, the scientifics could observe the eclipse and could carry out their investigations. The results were published in some of the most important journals of the time, as Nature, Physikulische Zeitschrift and Terrestrial Magnetism and Atmospheric Electricity
