    La creencia en la eficacia de la misa para obtener la felicidad eterna, y el deseo de perpetuar la propia memoria, determinaron en el Antiguo Régimen la proliferación de fundaciones, para su celebración perpetua en iglesias o altares concretos. Las vicisitudes del patrimonio gravado, las resistencia de los obligados y la dificultad de identificar los minifundios, en un tiempo anterior a las garantías registrales, fueron causa de su disminución constante. Algunas se extinguieron en la desamortización. De las demás quedaron escasos residuos en el siglo XX. En Sepúlveda había un exceso de fundaciones de misas, teniendo en cuenta los clérigos celebrantes y los altares disponibles.

    The faith in the value of the mass for eternal felicity and the desire of the perpetuity of memory of himself originated in the Ancient Regime many foundations for the perpetual celebration of mass in concrete churchs or altars. The variation of possesions burdened, the resistance of the obligated persons and the dificult of knowledge of the little possesions in a time before its registration were the cause of decrease of those foundations. Several foundations finished on account of the nationalisation of its possesions. In the XX century were few reminder. At Sepúlveda were more foundations that clergy and altars for the celebration.
