Les especies nidificants extingides (possibles 0 segures) s6n Phalacrocorax sp., Cignus olor, Fulica cristata, Phoenicopterus ruber, Netta rufina, Porphyrio porphyrio, Burhinus oedycnemus i Locustella luscinioides.
A com plete revision is presented of published or available information upto July 1992 on the avifauna of S'Albufera de Mallorcaand on the influence of the parks management on this fauna, A quantitative estimate of abundance is shown for the 61 breeding species. Summer species which breed outside the Park or which do not breed on the island, and typically overwintering species are mentioned. The density of overwintering waterfowl, ardeids and coots in recent years, with low initial figures, is interpreted as a response to the increase in the proportion of open waters or feeding areas within the Park, initially very limited in comparison with other Mediterranean wetlands. Fifty one species are considered regular migrants, and 55 of irregular presence in migration or over winter.
Others are exceptional or of doubtful presence. Probable or confirmed breeding species considered extinct are Phalacrocorax sp., Cignus olor, Fulica cristata, Phoenicopterus ruber, Netta rufina, Porphyrio porphyrio, Burhinus oedynemus and Locustella luscinioides. The two most important management projects on the Park's biotopes have been the clearing of canals and the introduction of large domestic herbivores. The former is considered to have been of benefit to 16 species. The density of Fulica alra in the Gran Canal indicates the productivity of this locality in submerged macrophytes.
Extensive pastures for cows and horses have been of benefit to 34 species (directly or indirectly).
although there are possible drawbacks in relation to reed bed birds.
