Las relaciones hispano-venecianas durante la segunda mitad del siglo XVII no han sido un tema suficientemente abordado. En el presente artículo, pretendo reflexionar acerca de aquellos que fueron intermediarios entre dos sistemas políticos tan dispares: los embajadores.
Centrándonos exclusivamente en los representantes del Rey Católico en la República de San Marcos durante la Guerra de Candía (1645-1669), lo que aquí se pretende es realizar un análisis de su carrera política. Un estudio prosopográfico que, con vistas a conocer sus principales similitudes, busca llevar a cabo un análisis colectivo de sus vidas: origen, cargos previos y promoción posterior; haciendo especial hincapié en descubrir si la importancia de la embajada en Venecia hacía necesaria la acción de los mejores sujetos, es decir, de los grandes artífices de la política exterior hispana del siglo XVII.

The Hispanic-Venetian relationships during the second half of the 17th century have not been a well-discussed issue. In this article, I pretend to consider about those who acted as intermediaries between such disparate political systems: the ambassadors.
Focusing exclusively on the representatives of the Catholic King in the Republic of Saint Marco during the War of Candia (1645-1669), what we pretend to carry out is a research of their political carriers. A prosopographical study that, in pursuit of knowing their main similarities, seeks to carry through a collective analysis of their life: origin, previous charges and future promotion; emphasizing on discover if the venetian embassy was such important for the Spanish interests to make necessary the action of the best foreign police architects.
