    This paper aims at analyzing the behaviour of the language of the Astures (Asturic) as regard with the vocalization of the nasal sonants that come of the zero grade Proto-Indo-European root (PIE), based on the written references transmitted by the classic authors and the epigraphic and toponymic sources recognizables nowadays. The analysis is made in comparison with the results in the western IndoEuropean languages, Common Celtic, Lusitanian and Latin. At the end and according to the results, we’ll offer several etymological proposals. Finally, some etymological proposals are proposed through the reconstructive method, applying the Asturic apophony and phonetic laws known directly from the proto-Indo-European roots, avoiding the use of intermediate terms registered in other historical languages.

    El trabayu afonda nel comportamientu de la llingua de los ástures (astúricu) na vocalización de les sonantes nasales que resulten del grau-cero de la raíz proto-indoeuropea (PIE), con bás nes referencies escrites tresmities polos autores clásicos y les fontes epigráfiques y toponímiques güei reconocibles. L’analís fáese en comparanza coles soluciones de les llingües indoeuropées occidentales, célticu, lusitanu y llatín, nun intentu d’asitiar el prerromán astur no que se presenta como un paisaxe llingüísticu peninsular complexu, con al menos dos llingües indoeuropées conocíes. A lo cabero, fáense delles propuestes etimolóxiques a traviés del métodu reconstructivu, aplicando l’apofonía astúrica y les lleis fonétiques conocíes direutamente sobre les raices proto-indoeuropées, fuxendo de términos intermedios conseñaos nes otres llingües históriques.
