Como consecuencia de la globalización y de la libre circulación de personas, las sucesiones se han internacionalizado, lo que ha propiciado que la UE mediante el reglamento 650/2012, de 4 de julio, haya establecido, para regir la sucesión, un sistema de resolución de conflictos sobre el punto de conexión supletorio de la residencia habitual en el momento del fallecimiento.
