  • Resumen
    • With roots stretching back to 1737, Germany's DMT Group has been active in the mining sector for some time, initially as a research partner to the coal mining industry. But the country's shift away from coal in the 1980s - by 2018 Germany intends not to have any active coal mines - led DMT to diversify into oil, plant and process engineering, giving it a multi-faceted outlook.

"Today, the company is an international service provider for mining, raw materials and oil and gas," Norbert Benecke, market manager for mining at DMT, told IM.

Work in abandonment - "the only business in the German mining sector currently growing", according to Benecke - is an important part of DMT's offering. Recently, a project carried out beneath a train station at Essen in northwest Germany secured a forgotten and abandoned facility from during the war, situated under a busy railway line, Benecke told IM
