  Se ha conservado un importante conjunto de documentos relativos a la fundación de los marqueses de Villena que dio origen al segundo Monasterio de la Visitación, de los que se conocían algunos extractos que incluían errores. Su contenido tiene interés desde el punto de vista sociológico, puesto que revela ideas sorprendentes en la consideración por las autoridades respecto a la enseñanza seglar o religiosa en un momento en que se habían asentado ya en las altas esferas las ideas ilustradas. Aportamos además numerosas noticias respecto a las obras artísticas del momento de la fundación y, sobre todo, fijamos con exactitud autores, fechas y contenido.

  There is an important set of documents related to the foundation of the Marquises of Villena- which gave origin to the Second Monastery of the Visitation - that has survived to known, the truth is that some of them included mistakes. The value of these documents is extremely high, especially from a sociological point of view, taking into account that they are revealing surprising ideas of the authorities of that time regarding the secular and religious education in a moment in which the ideas of the Enlightment had already taken root in the highest echelons of the society. Furthermore, we are also revealing a large number of news related to the artistic works provided to the foundation, as well as establishing accurately their authors, their dates and their contents.
