    Uno de los centros científicos más importantes del Paraguay durante la Guerra del Chaco (1932-1935), fue el Jardín Botánico y Zoológico de Asunción, fundado por el botanista alemán Dr. Carl Fiebrig. En esa época, aquella instalación, sirvió especialmente para la investigación del Chaco Boreal, territorio extraño y disputado por Bolivia, demostrando que la producción de conocimientos y la integración de fronteras siempre estuvieron íntimamente vinculadas. En este texto, se expone como científicos internacionales que actuaron “entre espacios”, influyeron fuertemente en la producción del territorio nacional paraguayo en el Chaco Boreal y en la expansión del nacionalismo paraguayo al oriente boliviano.

    One of the most important scientific centers of Paraguay during the War of the Chaco (1932-1935) was the Botanic Garden and Zoo of Asunción, founded by the German botanist Dr. Carl Fiebrig. At that time it served for the investigation of Chaco Boreal, a strange territory disputed by Bolivia, demonstrating that the production of knowledge and the integration of borders were always closely linked. In this text, it is shown how international scientists who acted "between spaces" strongly influenced the production of the Paraguayan national territory in the Chaco Boreal and in the expansion of Paraguayan nationalism in the eastern Bolivian.
