    El presente artículo presenta relatos míticos de los Mbya Guaraní en donde se narra el origen de dos humanidades: la de los Mbya y la de los Jurua. Estos mitos explican, a partir de esta doble génesis, el origen de las diferencias existentes entre ambos grupos. Se analiza la manera en la que estos relatos míticos, con sus variaciones, son utilizados para justificar por un lado el hecho de que cada grupo tiene modos de vida diferentes, al tiempo que fundamentan, por remitirse al tiempo mítico, la obligación que tienen los Mbya de vivir de acuerdo a sus tradiciones. A través del análisis de los mitos se los relaciona con los discursos identitarios existentes entre los Mbya. Se concluye que a nivel identitario los Mbya presentan un discurso que los demarca de los Jurua, evocando a una tradición que se pretende seguir, siendo esto en la actualidad virtualmente imposible.

    This paper presents mythical stories of the Mbya Guarani where the origin of two humanities is told: the Mbya and the Jurua. These myths explain, from this double genesis, the origin of the differences between the two groups. In this myths, with their variations, the mythical stories are used to justify in one hand the fact that each group has different modes of life, and on the other hand, by referring to the mythical time, the obligation of mbya people to live according to their traditions. Through the analysis of myths they are related to the existing identity discourses among the Mbya. It is concluded that the Mbya have a speech that demarcates -in the level of identity- them from the Jurua, evoking a tradition that they intends to follow, but this is virtually impossible today.
