The present study wants to provide a new vision of the Spanish transition and the political violence unleashed during that period. It is focused on the attack on the lawyers of Atocha and the transmission and construction of the event to the Spanish people from three media outlets: ABC, El País and La Vanguardia, in order to analyze, on the one hand, differences in treatment and diffusion of information, and on the other, to know the political and social context of the period, and to question, or at least to qualify, certain myths or unrealistic visions currently held over that period. For this purpose, bibliographical sources will be used in order to reconstruct the political and social context, and we will provide a theoretical framework in which, we will insert the conclusions derived from the analysis of the treatment of primary sources.
