  • A study is made of prickly pears carbohydrates, glucose, levulose and sucrose are found, and respective average values are: 7,07% 3,89% and 0,50% in the pulp and 2,10%, 1,18 and 1,08 in the peel. There is a constant ratio among the relative values of all the monosaccharides, there being practically twice as much glucose as levulose.
