    La lectura de la literatura clásica en los niveles de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria y de Bachillerato es un tema que se viene tratando desde hace mucho tiempo y sobre el que han expresado su opinión, a favor o en contra, los diferentes docentes de Lengua Española y Literatura. La discusión se centra en torno a la obligatoriedad de este tipo de obras, desde el momento en que los alumnos, a la hora de enfrentarse a obras pertenecientes a la literatura clásica, pueden haber tenido una mala experiencia al no comprenderlas y, sin embargo, tener que leerlas de forma obligatoria porque supone una calificación en la asignatura. Sin embargo, también es cierto que no se puede llegar a la Universidad sin haber conocido ciertos títulos imprescindibles para nuestra cultura. Las posibilidades son muy numerosas, pues hay muchos libros de literatura juvenil que forman parte del canon literario y cumplen las características que todo docente cree necesarias para aproximar a los estudiantes a este tipo de obras clásicas.

    The reading of classics at the Secondary Education and A levels is a topic that has been tried for a long time. Different Spanish teachers have expressed their opinion for or against it. The discussion focuses on the mandatory nature of this kind of works, since the students have to deal with works that belong to classic literature, it is possible they may have had a bad experience if they do not understand their meaning. However, they had to read them compulsorily in a mandatory way because it supposes a qualification in the subject. But it is also true that they cannot arrive to the University without having read certain essential titles in our culture. Possibilities are many, but there are a lot of books of youth literature that are part of the literary canon, but that fulfil the characteristics that every teacher considers necessary in the students’ approach to literary works.
